Tapspace is proud to offer this revolutionary audition DVD in conjunction with
the Santa Clara Vanguard. Murray Gusseck (SCV battery caption head) and Leo
Sanchez (cymbal instructor) collectively provide nearly 3 hours of video
lessons in large, full resolution video. The videos cover topics such as
technique, sound production, timing, tips on auditioning, practicing, and
more!
BATTERY
DRUMS (over 2 hours)
Watch and learn as Murray demonstrates the core principles of his unique technique
program at SCV that apply to the snare, tenor, and bass sections. These demonstrations
are done mainly on the snare drum but apply in large part to all three drum
sections of the battery. He also supplies tips on auditioning, practicing,
and the gear that SCV uses.
CYMBALS
(approx. 30 minutes)
Leo Sanchez demonstrates the basic crash techniques and common sounds used
by SCV's world famous cymbal line. Crashes such as the Flat crash, Port
crash, Orchestral crash, and crash chokes are outlined, as well as sounds
like sizzles, zings, dings, taps, crunches, and more. Leo also discusses
cymbal line requirements.

SCV Aud DVD Reviews

Gary Schumann
Unsolicited review received via email
“I have been teaching marching percussion for about 22 years and while I try to remain current I am finding it increasingly difficult to get my students to "buy what I'm selling" so to speak. Until now. I bought the DVD with the hopes that by showing it to my students, it would reinforce the methods and techniques that I have been trying to get across to them. It does not only that and more. I have other corps style method videos and by far, The SCV Audition DVD is a one of a kind comprehensive approach to battery technique. Although a "methods" video may not have been your initial intent, I have started to recommend it to every student, director, and instructor I come in contact with. Sincerely I would like to thank you for such a useful video.”
