Scott Higgins

Scott Higgins is active freelance percussionist, teacher, and composer in Denver, CO. He plays with the Colorado Symphony, Colorado Chamber Players, Opera Colorado, and Boulder Philharmonic, and is a member of Colorado Ballet’s orchestra and Principal Percussionist with the Central City Opera.  

Many of his compositions have been performed by groups in the Denver metro area, including Sound Circle, a 21-member women’s choir, which performed a commissioned at the Dairy Center in Boulder. Rice University’s percussion ensemble performed his percussion ensemble piece "Kinematic" in the fall of 2006 and "Funkadunk" in fall of 2008. 

Before moving to Denver to join his wife, Susan Cahill, a double-bassist with the Colorado Symphony, he was with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra as section and acting-principal percussionist from 1994–1999. Scott received his Master’s in Performance with Alan Abel at Temple University and Bachelor of Music with Jim Atwood at Loyola University in New Orleans.
