Jon Weber (Instructor of Percussion at MSU College of Music and 1992 SCV snareline alum) boldly explores theme and variation through some very powerful motifs in 5/4 time while keeping a solid, grounded groove that does not get lost in the chaos.

This 60-second warmup was heard played by the Santa Clara Vanguard drumline in 2002 written by David Reeves as a tribute to drum corps icon Ralph Hardimon, who shaped much of what people know today as the SCV percussion sound. Ralph Speak is a rhythmically complex piece which requires both chops and finesse to perform. For drumlines with brains and brawn, this piece is sure to lay it on the line!
