False Impressions by Darrien Spicak is an exciting quartet scored for unpitched percussion instruments that revolves around the concept of perceived meter on top of notated meter. Relying primarily on drums and woodblocks, the piece swings back and forth in layered feels using hocket and hemiola to create an interesting listening experience and a fun challenge for the performers.
