Alexander Singer

Dr. Alexander Singer, a native of Oregon, USA, is an award-winning international percussion and timpani performer, author, composer and clinician. Currently, Dr. Singer is the Assistant Professor of Percussion at Soochow University in Suzhou, Jiangsu, China.

Dr. Singer is a prolific solo, orchestral, and studio performer. Most recently, he won Third Prize in Timpani at the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) Italy International Percussion Competition in 2015. He continues his solo and chamber music career in Asia and Europe with several world premieres and commissions. While working in California, he was a principal member of the Orange County Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra in California and performed on many studio recording sessions in Los Angeles including the feature documentary film, “With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story. ”

As a devoted contributor to the musical community, Dr. Singer has a passion for research, writing, and collaborative service. His work includes an educational grant, compositions, published articles, and master classes. He currently serves as the Outreach Coordinator at Soochow University and represents China as a member of the PAS International Committee. He holds a D. M.A. in Percussion Performance from the University of Southern California as well as a M. M. and B. M. from the University of Oregon.
