Aaron Locklear

Aaron Locklear is a percussionist, educator and composer based in Birmingham, AL. Aaron has been a featured artist at the Great Plains International Marimba Competition in Oklahoma City, OK, as well as the Forefront Arts Festival in Rochester, NY. He has also performed orchestrally with groups such as the Alabama Symphony, Syracuse Symphoria, Skaneateles Festival Orchestra, and Bemus Bay Pops.

Other endeavors include performing with the inaugural All-Star Percussion Ensemble at the 2015 Percussive Arts Society International Convention, as well as performing alongside the Eastman Percussion Ensemble as soloist for the world premiere of of Melody & Pulse from Alejandro Viñao's Estudios de Frontera. He can be heard on the recordings of Michael Burrit’s Home Trilogy, Jeff Tyzik’s Images for Wind Ensemble, and Matt Curlee’s Decay No. 1 for Percussion Quintet. He is active in the marching arts activity as a front ensemble instructor for The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps, as well as former member of the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps as a member of the front ensemble (’11-’13).

Aaron received his Master's Degree and Performer's Certificate from the Eastman School of Music, and his Bachelor's Degree from Auburn University. His primary teachers include Michael Burritt, Chip Ross, Doug Rosener, Jim Ross, Mark Yancich, and Jeff Grant.
