Andrew Richardson

Originally from Virginia, Dr. Andrew Richardson serves on the faculty of The University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma Baptist University. Additionally, Andrew performs with DuOK Percussion Duo throughout central Oklahoma. In an effort to serve his community, Andrew has performed at schools, retirement communities, and street corners in the greater Oklahoma City area. Professionally, he has performed and given presentations at the National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy and the Oklahoma Percussive Arts Society Days of Percussion. Additionally, Andrew is published in Percussive Notes, the journal of the Percussive Arts Society. Andrew's writing credits include marching band percussion arrangements for Oklahoma Baptist University and several high schools as well as compositions and arrangements for steel band, marimba, and multiple percussion. He is also the founder and director for the Central Oklahoma Youth Percussion Ensemble. The ensemble was formed in the spring of 2014 as a way to promote interest in the percussion ensemble art form among high school students in central Oklahoma.

Andrew earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The University of Oklahoma as well as Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. His teachers include Dr. Lance Drege, C. William Rice, Dr. Michael Overman, and Marlon Foster. Andrew is a member of the Percussive Arts Society and the Vic Firth Education Team.
