Daniel Lesieur

Daniel Lesieur, along with being an arranger and composer, is also a percussionist and pianist. He studied percussion performance and education under the instruction of Dr. Dan Moore and Dr. Virginia “Ginny” Armstrong at the University of Iowa. While there, Daniel also studied arranging, composition, instrumentation, and orchestration. He additionally studied orchestral percussion under Mr. Alan Lawrence, jazz drumming under Mr. Dennis McPartland, marching percussion under Mr. David Schmuck, and piano under the late Mr. James "Jim" Jenkins.
Daniel was a percussionist for the Cedar Rapids Municipal Band, Cedar River Brass Ensemble, and he marched tenors for the Emerald Knights Drum & Bugle Corps, Jefferson Band of Blue, and Iowa Hawkeye Marching Band. He also marched bottom bass for the Pioneer Drum & Bugle Corps for half a season. While in Iowa, Daniel was a percussion & drumline instructor at 5 Eastern Iowa high schools for a combined 8 seasons, and he was a volunteer percussionist for the Eastern Iowa Brass Band, Cedar Rapids Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the Iowa City Community Theater & Chamber Orchestra. Most recently, Daniel was a percussion performer & assistant manager with Gallant Entertainment, Inc. for their steel band, ProSteel, then later formed his own steel band, Mama Yo!, which performs in the New York City area, and he was a percussion & drumline instructor at Bayonne High School in New Jersey for 2 marching band seasons and 2 WGI seasons.
