Eric Willie
Described as a "true musical talent and professional,” Eric Willie has a varied career as a performer, composer/arranger, and teacher. He has performed in Carnegie Hall, at several PAS International Conventions and Days of Percussion, and on regional live broadcasts.
Eric regularly performs with the Nief-Norf Project, the Legal Wood Project, and the Winston-Salem Symphony. He has performed at the Big Ears Music Festival, eight Percussive Arts Society International Conventions (PASIC), the Eastern Trombone Workshop, Florida Electroacoustic Music Festival, World Saxophone Congress, and the Music for All National Percussion Festival. As an arranger, his marching percussion arrangements have been performed by the University of North Texas, University of Kentucky, and the Spirit and Southwind drum and bugle corps.
An avid promoter of new works for percussion, Eric has commissioned and/or premiered works by Christopher Adler, Michael Burritt, Elliot Cole, Christopher Deane, Paul Lansky, John Mackey, Anna Meadors, Marc Mellits, John Psathas, Adam Silverman, Jason Treuting, Blake Tyson, Alejandro Viñao, Jamie Whitmarsh, James Wood, and others.
Eric is the Director of Percussion Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He holds the DMA from the University of North Texas, MM from the University of Kentucky, and a BME from Austin Peay State University.
