Isaac Pyatt
Isaac Pyatt is a composer and percussionist studying at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro School of Music. He has studied with composers Alejandro Rutty and Mark Engebretson and the percussionists Eric Willie and John Beck. His compositions have been featured in new student works concerts and solo recitals. He tends to draw influence from the entire musical world in which he is immersed—from Baroque counterpoint to pop/rock—to create accessible concert music that can interest the listener and challenge the performers.
As an active percussionist, he regularly performs in a variety of ensembles at UNCG (which led to a performance at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in San Antonio, TX in 2015), performs solo recitals outside of school, and works as an educator with the Ledford High School Marching Band. In 2016 and 2017, he won the North Carolina Percussive Arts Society University Soloist Competition and was a winner in the 2017 UNCG Student Artist Competition. In the past, he has attended North Carolina Governor’s School, Leigh Howard Steven’s Marimba Seminar, and Brevard Music Center. He graduated high school from University of North Carolina School of the Arts.
