Mark Hunter

Mark Hunter is a native of Chicago where he attended Prospect High School and was a private student of Bret Kuhn. Following graduation and continuing into his first years at the University of Kentucky, Mark was a member of The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps playing snare (1997-2000). In that time the percussion section was awarded the High Percussion award twice and the full corps shared a World Championship. Mark was also involved in Individual & Ensemble at DCI and placed 4th in 1999 and 5th in 2000.

Immediately upon graduation from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Percussion Performance, Mark won the job as marimba soloist of the Tony/Emmy Award-winning show Blast! for their 2004 tour of Japan. He now lives in Atlanta, George, where he teaches South Forsyth High School, University of Western Georgia, and Carrollton High School. Having taught for The Colts Drum & Bugle Corps (2008) and the Spirit Drum & Bugle Corps (2009-2010), Mark was honored to become a part of the percussion staff at The Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps this past summer and is looking forward to more.
