Matt Ridge

Matt Ridge is a composer, arranger, and performer who enjoys a wide scope of influence and output. He seeks to prioritize emotional and intellectual accessibility in his body of work, which spans original and collaborative projects for band, choir, orchestra, electronic music, chamber music, the marching arts, and live multimedia. He enjoys a diverse performance background, running the gamut from contemporary vocal music to drum corps percussion.

Matt maintains an active presence within the marching arts community. As an arranger, his achievements include two WGI Concert World Class championships and three BOA Grand Nationals semifinals placements with Fishers High School (IN), for whom he regularly writes and consults. His performance experience in this realm spans four seasons with The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps and two with Music City Mystique, serving a leadership role in both ensembles.

Matt currently studies composition at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, with specialized studies including electronic music, media scoring/orchestrating, and choral music. His teachers have included Tansy Davies, David Dzubay, Sven-David Sandström, Jeffrey Hass, Claude Baker, Don Freund, John Gibson, Aaron Travers, and Larry Groupé.

Originally from the Indianapolis area, Matt now resides in Bloomington, IN and is a member of ASCAP and SEAMUS. Outside of music, he takes interest in science, film, the universe, and the endless void of Internet humor.
