Michal Brauhn Damm

Michal Brauhn Damm is a percussion performer, arranger, composer, and educator from southeast Iowa. She has performed and toured across the country with groups such as the University of Iowa Steel Band, Malleus University of Arizona graduate percussion ensemble, and countless other ensembles. Michal Brauhn played drum set for the Iowa Steel Band 2018 album, Jungle Music, which featured world renowned pan artist, Andy Narell. Brauhn was also the staff drummer for Andy Narell at the Morgantown Ellie Mannette steel pan festival in the summer of 2018. Brauhn received second place in the Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra 2015 Young Artist Competition, as well as third place in the University of Iowa Voxman School of Music Scholarship Competition.


Michal Brauhn Damm has received degrees from the University of Iowa (BM) studying with Dr. Dan Moore and the University of Arizona (MM) with Dr. Morris Palter. Brauhn held a teaching assistantship during her time at the University of Arizona, directing the University of Arizona Steel Drum Band and teaching lessons.


Michal Brauhn Damm is currently a freelance musician in Tucson, Arizona. As a growing musician, Brauhn is always open to new performance opportunities. She is well versed in arranging, transcribing, and composing for steel band, solo marimba, percussion chamber ensembles, and more.
