Miles Locke
Miles Locke (b. 1991) is a percussionist based in the DFW Metroplex. Miles graduated from Texas Christian University studying under Brian West and Blinn College studying with Sarah Burke.
Miles was a member of the TCU Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Percussion Orchestra, Steel Band, and the Horned Frog Marching Band. He was a member of the Fred Sanford award winning PASIC drumline in 2012. His drum corps experience includes Revolution and the Boston Crusaders. He has performed in venues such as the Royal School of Music in London, Normandy Beach, France, and Volterra and Rome, Italy.
Miles is an active composer and arranger. His compositions range from solo percussion, chamber works, marching percussion and more. His works and arrangements have been performed around the world, including the 2014 and 2015 Percussive Arts Society International Convention, the 2018 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the 2022 Midwest Clinic.
As an educator, Miles served as the Assistant Percussion Director and Private Lesson Instructor at Keller High School for 3 years. He now is the Director of Percussion at Allen High School where he oversees the curriculum for over 140 percussionists grades 6-12. Mr. Locke also instructs the drumline for “The Biggest Band in the Land”, ‘Allen Eagle Escadrille’, the 600+ member marching band from Allen High School. His groups receive consistent success at local percussion contests and were invited to the 76th Annual Midwest Clinic in Chicago.
Miles’ professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Percussive Arts Society. He has presented clinics for district professional development as well as at the Texas Bandmasters convention. In his free time, Miles likes to run and spend time with his wife Emily and their cats, Cat and Zuko.
