One of Scott Joplin’s lesser known ragtime pieces, Eugenia is a much more expansive piece than most rags with a few surprising extended sections. In this more advanced arrangement for solo xylophone, the soloist gets to show off their abilities by handling fast octave passages, short rolls interspersed between melodic lines, and lightning quick ornamentations. Eugenia can also be found in The Golden Age of Ragtime, a compilation of five classic ragtime pieces arranged by Ralph Hicks and Eric Rath!
This piece comes as a professionally printed and bound score and includes individual parts in PDF format for printing or for tablet viewing.
Soloist:
• xylophone
Accompaniment:
• 2 marimbas* — low A
• Piano — can be used with soloist only, or optionally in conjunction w/ marimba quartet accompaniment.
* One of the low A marimbas can be swapped with a low F marimba (4.5 octave) allowing extended range parts to be performed if a larger instrument is available.
