Sam Gevers

Sam Gevers is full time drummer in the Royal Band of the Belgian Navy. He holds a master of music degree in Percussion and Wind Band Conducting.

As a freelance musician, he has played with the Flemish Philharmonic, the National Orchestra of Belgium and many more. With the Night of the Proms orchestra, he accompanied world famous artists like Donna Summer, Ike Turner, and Macy Gray. As freelance drummer/percussionist he has worked on musicals such as Evita, Elisabeth, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Oliver!, Fiddler on the Roof, Cinderella, Chaplin, Wizard of Oz, and Scrooge. 


Currently, Sam is teaching "Creative Projects" and "Percussion Pedagogy" at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp and AP Hogeschool Antwerpen.
 For 5 years, Sam was teaching percussion and ensemble at the Conservatory of Mechelen, Belgium. 
He is founder of the trio “Percussive”, which is now one the leading percussion groups touring in the Belgian theatres. Sam made a series of short percussion videos which were broadcasted on national television. For one of these videos he was granted 2 awards at the Corporate Video Festival. 

As a composer Sam wrote many educational pieces, some large compositions for percussion ensemble, and 9 musical productions including "Zoo of life", "Rubens", "King Albert 1",  “Marie-Antoinette”, “Gheelamania” and “Mol-in-scene”. These mass productions were visited by more than 150,000 people.
