Seth Adams

Seth Adams is currently the Director of Bands at UIC College Prep High School in Chicago, Illinois, where he conducts eight concert bands including the Firecat Honors Band. He holds a master of music degree in music education from Boston University (2012), and bachelor’s degrees in music education and music performance (percussion) from the University of Massachusetts Amherst (2005).

Seth studied clarinet and bass clarinet throughout secondary school, but when he picked up the bass guitar at 13, a lifelong passion for the instrument ensued. At almost the same time, Seth joined a small drum and bugle corps near his hometown. He began on the timpani, came to love the entire percussion family, and soon was in a serious drum corps career that included performing as a member of the Glassmen and Magic of Orlando, and teaching and arranging music for the front ensembles of the Carolina Crown (2005-06) and Blue Stars (2007-09). Since relocating to Chicago in 2012, Seth has devoted himself to teaching inside the city limits, first as a Teaching Artist for Ravinia's Reach-Teach-Play initiative on Chicago's West Side, and now as a high school band director in the heart of the city.

In addition to his duties at UIC College Prep, Seth is also a sought-after bass player, with dozens of recording credits and over nine hundred performances both public and private, primarily in the cities of Boston and Chicago with the bands Groove Authority and Spoken Four, respectively. Seth is also the co-founder of Animal Farm, a Chicago kindie band who write and perform “grown-up music for kids” and will be touring in support of their second album, “We Are One, ” in 2018.
