Tracy Thomas

Tracy Thomas is a composer, performer, and music educator based out of Troy, MO. He has taught percussion at Missouri Western State University, Kansas State University, and at the University of Kansas where he completed his doctorate in music in 2010. For the last ten years he has taught band for the Troy school district. Numerous ensembles and soloists throughout the United States and abroad have performed his compositions. His piece, Three Songs for Voice and Marimba won third prize in the 2008 Percussive Arts Society International Composition Competition. You can also hear his compositions and performances with his progressive rock band Echoes of Giants on their first two albums in which he plays percussion, keys, and drums. Two of his marimba solos for younger players can be found in Dr. Julia Gaines' Sequential Studies (Book 1) and Sequential Studies (Book 2) for four-mallet marimba.
