Description

If you're a groover, Chocolate Cherry Bomb is the solo for you. Nick Werth wrote the solo specifically for inclusion in the tenor solo compilation book, Violent Tenor Cream. The title of the piece is a phonetic realization of the key motif present almost the entire way through. The tempi used throughout will place high demands on the performer's sense of time and groove.

Nick Werth is fast becoming one of percussion gurus on the DCI scene today. Some of his credits include 1st place at the PASIC mutli-tenor competition three years in a row (2000–2002), and tenor instructor for the Phantom Regiment 2003 through 2006, the last of which was a year Phantom took the high drum trophy at finals. Nick is also an accomplished drumset player, vibraphonist, and DJ.

Chocolate Cherry Bomb
has all the ingredients of a solo on tenor drums that would actually engage a non-drummer audience. If played well, your audience might even leave humming parts of it!

This solo also appears in the tenor solo
compilation book Violent Tenor Cream.
